Suite Studio Group continues to thrive in 2008. Based in Salford (on the fringes of Manchester city centre) the studio comprises a broad range of practices and members meet on a regular basis for group crits. During the past year, artists and curators from outside the group have also been invited to participate in these discussions and the aim of the studio group is to create the conditions where artists can work in an atmosphere of critical debate around their practices.

In addition to the nine artists who have spaces at our studios, Suite also offers membership to a limited number of artists who wish to be part of an artists’ network but have no need for a studio space. All members are featured on this website.

Suite’s artists have continued to show their work far and wide with venues stretching from Germany, Poland, Lithuania, Russia and Ireland to the US. We have exhibited over the past couple of years in prestigious competitions including The John Moore’s Painting Prize, Jerwood Drawing Prize, Aspex Emergency and the Oriel Mostyn Open.

Over the past year, Suite artists have also shown work at regional galleries including Firstsite, Colchester; Aspex, Portsmouth; Nottingham's Castle, Angel Row and MOOT Galleries; LOT in Bristol, Metropole in Folkestone, Gallery North, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, BLOC space in Sheffield, City Gallery, Leicester, Wolverhampton Art Gallery, York Art Gallery plus major installations at York St Mary’s and Pallant House Gallery, Chichester, together with events in London, have included exhibitions at the ICA, Pumphouse, Knapp Gallery, MOT, Transition Gallery and The Nunnery.

Closer to home, Suite members have exhibited at Cornerhouse, Castlefield Gallery, Bureau, Mid Pennine Arts, FACT, Harris Museum and Art Gallery, Art Gene in Cumbria, Gallery Oldham, Bury Art Gallery, Chapel Gallery and Turnpike Gallery, Leigh.

John MacMurray designed and maintained Suite's website from our beginnings in 2001. His support and enthusiasm was always given freely; his fun, professional and sensitive approach always appreciated. This website has become an essential part of Suite's identity. We are so grateful for this legacy and will miss John greatly.
