Jo Scorah is a textile based artist whose work explores issues of political significance. Naturally drawn to working with the body, her background in clothes design has inevitably played a significant role within the construction and aesthetics of the garments. Present work centres on the 'unpacking of life', and the cultural implications of transient living and migration. Recent study has investigated areas such as nomadic wanderings, and the emotional and physical scars left by conflict and war.

Response is stimulated by political observation as well as a personal identification with the particular area of research that involves the Middle East Conflict. Thoughts are often transferred by way of painting and screen print, on to material, culminating in the production of sculptural, garments that are ambiguous and cannot be defined as garment or concept.
